DOWNLOAD RECIPE

Ingredients:

For the Mince Sauce:

  • 500g ground beef (or ground turkey/chicken)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a bit of heat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Spaghetti:

  • 300g spaghetti
  • Salt for boiling water

For the Cheese Topping:

  • 2 cups (200g) Parmalat Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Spaghetti:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Mince Sauce:
    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
    • Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
    • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavours to meld. Stir occasionally.
  3. Combine the Spaghetti and Mince:
    • Once the mince sauce is ready, toss the cooked spaghetti into the sauce and stir until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
  4. Add the Mozzarella Cheese:
    • Preheat your oven’s broiler.
    • Transfer the spaghetti and mince mixture into an oven-safe baking dish or skillet. Sprinkle the grated Parmalat Mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
    • Place the dish under the broiler for 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, with a slightly golden top.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley.
    • Serve warm and enjoy the cheesy, flavourful goodness!
